Twitter hits 400 follower mark

Our Twitter account has this week surpassed the 400 follower mark. This means it has gained on average 45 followers per week for the 9 months it has been active. Thanks to everyone who currently follows it. And if you don’t then find out more at http://www.twitter.com/amnestybg

New Hashtag for #AmnestyBookSale

After some thought and discussion we have decided to use the hashtag #AmnestyBookSale for our Saturday 21 June. It’s the most obvious one to use and no one else uses it. So please use it in the run-up to the day and on the day itself to join in the conversation about this amazing event. Thanks!

Social Media Lift Off!

After a successful book sale I can now report that the Amnesty Blackheath and Greenwich group has achieved social media lift-off!

On the day of the book sale the group blog achieved 183 views which is the record high for one day so far.

The Twitter account has rapidly grown in followers with now almost 200.

The Facebook page now has over 50 ‘Likes’ too.

And why has this happened? Partly from taking the opportunity of an event to engage people on social media. Partly because so many local people shared and retweeted our news. And largely because the book sale is such a legendary event and the group has widespread support from across the local community.

So a big thanks to all our amazing volunteers and to the local community!
