Press release: The Legendary Amnesty Book Sale is Back

The annual Amnesty International Book Sale hosted by the Amnesty Blackheath and Greenwich Group is on Saturday 20 June 9am-5pm at the Church of the Ascension. This massive book sale is a regular event on the London book scene and much loved by the local community. The event fills the whole of the church with high-quality books at ridiculously low prices.

Chair of the Group, Simon Ware looking forward to the event says:

“The quality of books – many of which are brand new – is exceptionally high, and there will be a wide variety of bargains to be found, from second-hand paperbacks to review copies of recently published novels. For the quality on offer the prices are astonishingly affordable”.

The Amnesty Blackheath and Greenwich Group’s book sales, said to legendary by many who attend them, are established as Amnesty International’s most successful local fundraising event in the UK, raising almost £300,000 across the years. The events are so popular there is always a queue of people waiting to get in when the doors open.

The annual book sale will include the opportunity for members of the public to sign letters for the group’s campaigns. Amnesty International works worldwide for the release of prisoners of conscience, fair trials for political prisoners and an end to torture, extrajudicial executions, disappearances and the death penalty.

  1. Hi, are you still seeking book donations and if so where do I take them? I’m a Blackheath resident with some interesting books to donate. Regards
