Women’s Rights in Iran – Film screening and discussion

Tuesday 10th March 2015 6.30pm at Human Rights Action Centre
Iran is much more than what we see from it through the filters of the media. Although we can follow any advancements on the nuclear talks, we hardly get any information on the lives of ordinary Iranians in the news. This event wants to change this. It aims to draw a clear picture of the lives of Iranian women by dint of a film and a panel discussion.
The one-hour documentary from Hossein Martin Fazeli and Sheema Kalbasi explores the women’s fight for equality and struggle with the rigid Sharia law. Afterwards, Human Rights experts will share their views on the topic and answer questions from the audience. Please note that doors open at 6.30pm and the film starts at 7pm. After the discussion attendees are invited to a small drink reception. Please join us to explore more about Iran and discuss this contemporary human rights issue.

Group meeting – Tues 10 Feb (tomorrow)

Time flies quickly and it’s time for our group meeting. Tomorrow on Tuesday 10 February 7.30pm at St Margaret’s on Belmont Hill (at junction with Brandram Road) we have our meeting to discuss the latest human rights updates and plan our forthcoming activities and events. And we are exploring volunteer recruitment too.

And this month we are also selecting our delegate for the Amnesty AGM in April (18-19 at Warwick University) which we pay for travel and the place at conference (includes accommodation).

We welcome new people to come along and join us. And if you have questions then email us aibg.enquiries@gmail.com
