Amnesty UK’s LGBTI Network will be promoting our work on LGBTI rights at the Pride in London parade on Saturday 28 June and would welcome group members to join them.
We will assemble at midday and will finish by 4pm. People usually tend to be involved in wearing the fabulous Love is a Human Right T-Shirts, holding placards and distributing our popular stickers to the crowds lining the streets. There is a Facebook event page so you can invite your friends too!
If you’re coming along and would like to help out we’re desperately looking for 4 extra Wheel Stewards. You’ll need to commit to staying there from 11:00 until around 4pm. You get a special breifing by Pride organisers, your very own pride steward T-shirt and a lorry wheel to look after!! Who could want more?
In seriousness this is a really important role and without wheel stewards we can’t have a float in the pride parade. You will walk alongside your designated wheel and stop people jumping under it (particularly in Oxford street where shoppers try to dash between floats). Don’t worry you can still wear Amnesty stickers, and enjoy the music – and you’ll be helping make the event run smoothly!!!
If you have any queries and you’re up for taking part in the parade as a wheel steward please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, email address and ideally a phone number
